There is a significant change coming to Google's Universal Analytics properties. On July 1st, 2023, Google's Universal Analytics will stop collecting data. Therefore, if you want to continue using Google's Analytics program, you will have to switch to Google Analytics 4 for the best and most extensive experience.
A little background and context are necessary. Until now, Google Analytics for websites has been based on Urchin Analytics, a program Google purchased in 2005 and subsequently rebranded as Google Analytics. This product has grown and added features throughout time, but it is essentially the same product. If you think back to 2005, cell phones or mobile apps were barely available with significant limitations. Google Analytics 4 is here to bridge the gap with mobile technological changes.
In 2014, Google acquired a company called Firebase which developed the Firebase Analytics add-on as a compliment to its analytics software. This program could be integrated into the core system, but it could also be used as a standalone analytics platform. This software is now known as Google Analytics 4, which is currently available and will replace Universal Google Analytics.
There are two key aspects here. Firstly, the change from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 is a huge update. It's a product replacement rather than product evolution. It will take some effort to understand this program. Understanding the root of mobile app monitoring also puts many feature differences between Universal Analytics and Google Analytics 4 into context. Although many primary tracking systems will still be in place, many changes and updates will come.
Google Analytics 4 is a significant product transformation that requires extensive effort. It will take some getting used to. If you are looking for a more comprehensive and immersive user experience with respect to your healthcare practices, Google Analytics 4 is our future.
